Local Truck Driver

Position Summary:

As a valued part of the Lowe’s team in delivery and customer service, you will be responsible for ensuring that merchandise is delivered safely and on time, all while providing exceptional customer service. This role involves a strong emphasis on operational efficiency, compliance with safety regulations, and effective communication practices.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service:

• Deliver exceptional customer service at Lowe’s by strictly adhering to their established service policies and procedures.
• Reach out to customers to understand their needs and offer assistance in locating, selecting, showcasing, and moving merchandise.
• Support customers by providing knowledgeable assistance in addressing inquiries and guiding them through project-related choices.
• Show authentic gratitude to clients and communicate product specifications, customized order information, features, guarantees, and perks.
• Oversee delivery communications between customers and drivers to streamline the process.

Organizing the shipment tasks and monitoring stock levels proficiently:

• Supervise delivery operations, print loading passes, and oversee the prompt and accurate transportation of merchandise.
• Arrange products, assemble, and secure delivery loads before transit.
• Double-check the model numbers, descriptions, and quantities on delivery forms to ensure accuracy.
• Place, unbox, and verify the performance of newly received appliances.

Safety & Compliance:

• Comply with DOT requirements by properly securing cargo and ensuring that delivery trucks are clean, examined, and serviced.
• Employ designated tools such as iPhones to update delivery statuses conveniently.
• Execute mandatory DOT reporting tasks and ensure CDL compliance is upheld.
• Highlight and report potential security breaches, such as theft or shoplifting, to maintain a secure environment.
• Regularly assess the cleanliness and safety of the store and work areas, and promptly report any potential hazards to maintain a safe environment.
• Engage with store machinery like the Zebra phone, paint mixer, and CCTV equipment while following safety protocols, which may involve the use of spotters, safety cables, and aisle blockers.

Additional Duties:

• See to it that all other delegated duties are carried out accordingly.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• The vehicle type dictates the CDL license needed, either Class A or B, as well as any essential endorsements like air brake certification.
• Proof of a valid medical certificate is essential, or the candidate must be willing to obtain one upon being hired.
• Passing the Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) screening requirement is necessary.
• Observing all DOT and CDL guidelines is a must.
• Participants must be 21 years of age or older to take part.
• Effective reading skills and fundamental arithmetic competencies.
• Proficiency in securing the required sales licensure or registration.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Meeting the entry requirements involves having one year of semi-truck/trailer driving experience or completing a formal driving school program.
• Proficient in managing customer service tasks in a retail environment or executing in-home deliveries for a duration of 6 months.
• - Utilized a forklift or Moffett for loading and unloading tasks over a span of three months.
